About the position

The Area Manager for Nuclear Manufacturing at Cardinal Health is responsible for overseeing the production of radiopharmaceuticals in a highly regulated environment. This role involves managing cyclotron operations, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory policies, and driving process improvements. The Area Manager will lead teams, monitor quality assurance, manage inventory, and ensure effective communication across various sites to meet production demands and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees cyclotron operations in Beltsville, MD and Sharon Hill, PA for radiopharmaceutical production.
  • Drives accountability for executing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in compliance with cGMP requirements.
  • Models adherence to SOPs and leads teams in process improvements.
  • Monitors quality using the Quality Management System (QMS) and related programs.
  • Ensures inventory management aligns with policies to minimize waste and avoid stockouts.
  • Implements an effective internal audit program at sites.
  • Conducts timely investigations on deviations and out-of-specification (OOS) results.
  • Ensures general maintenance and cleaning of equipment and facilities are performed.
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues as needed.
  • Oversees site management to ensure production capability and recommends service and repair for critical components.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to meet product and production expectations.
  • Ensures proactive communication during contingency plans.
  • Secures efficient production and customer satisfaction by managing material transfers to pharmacies.
  • Manages radiation safety programs at each site.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and safety programs.
  • Reviews and approves validation protocols and media fill documentation.
  • Oversees employee training and ensures documentation is current.
  • Develops performance plans for subordinates to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Establishes performance goals and monitors results.
  • Leads conference calls to communicate and meet company objectives.
  • Interviews, hires, disciplines, and evaluates employees under direct supervision.
  • Develops and motivates employees to maximize job performance.
  • Manages departmental budgets and investigates unusual P&L information.
  • Performs other assignments as required to meet business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • 8-12 years of experience preferred.
  • Past supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in managing people and leading multiple teams or departments.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving results with strong financial acumen and project management skills.
  • Ability to meet physical expectations of the role, including lifting up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to see fine particulate and differentiate colors.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
  • Manual dexterity required for equipment operation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma and Operational Excellence principles.
  • Authorized User and Media Fill qualified preferred.
