About the position

The Area Manager (Sales Rep) at Performance Food Group is responsible for developing independent account business with a focus on profitability through new sales and account penetration. This role involves promoting and selling company-branded products, meeting brand sales objectives, and supporting customer service activities for regional and national chain customers. The position emphasizes teamwork and collaboration within the department to enhance the company's visibility and market share.

Responsibilities

  • Generate additional business by analyzing sales territory and individual customers.
  • Sample products with existing and potential customers.
  • Plan general sales strategy including time and territory management.
  • Conduct effective sales presentations to grow sales and profit margins.
  • Set up new customer accounts by determining pricing and coordinating with other departments.
  • Perform initial follow-up work with customers to ensure delivery and product satisfaction.
  • Provide exemplary customer service by coordinating efforts to resolve customer problems.
  • Build additional business with current customers through product penetration.
  • Monitor accounts for compliance with credit terms to minimize accounts receivable problems.
  • Maintain awareness of pricing trends within the sales territory.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  • 6-12 months sales/marketing and/or restaurant experience
  • Valid Driver's License
