About the position

The Area Manager in Transportation Fleet Maintenance is responsible for leading, motivating, and developing a team of technicians to perform world-class maintenance on the company's private fleet of tractors, trailers, and equipment. This role is crucial for maintaining the fleet's operational efficiency, ensuring quality and safety standards, and meeting performance goals. The Area Manager reports directly to the Shop Operations Manager and works a shift from Sunday to Wednesday, 3:30 PM to 3:30 AM.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of 5-10 hourly technicians.
• Oversee daily staffing and workload to meet shop performance goals.
• Analyze business reports to manage productivity and responsibilities.
• Develop associates by assigning responsibilities, coordinating workloads, monitoring performance, and providing feedback.
• Ensure associates are trained on Logistics and company policies, standards, and procedures to maintain quality and safety standards.

Requirements

• Class 8 mechanical background.
• 1+ years of experience managing technicians.
• 1+ years of experience as a Service Manager, Service Writer, or Shop Foreman.
• Working knowledge of service shop operations and procedures.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to motivate and lead a team.

Nice-to-haves

• General Maintenance experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Bachelor's Degree in Business or Logistics.
• ASE Certification.
• DOT Transportation Certification.
