About the position

The Area Operations Coordinator plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive administrative support to leaders within assigned business units at MLC. This position is designed for individuals who thrive in a collaborative work environment that emphasizes growth and innovation. The coordinator will be responsible for a variety of administrative functions, which include creating and maintaining labor schedules, preparing essential documents, reports, and presentations, and managing both digital databases and paper filing systems. Additionally, the role involves scheduling training sessions and other events, ordering necessary tools and supplies, and documenting accurate meeting notes to ensure smooth operations within the business unit. In this role, the coordinator will enter data into various systems and prepare reports tailored to the needs of the business unit, utilizing tools such as WFM, Dakota, EAM, MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook. A significant aspect of the job includes preparing and publishing weekly labor schedules, as well as filling and backfilling open shifts in a 24/7 plant environment, adhering to the parameters set by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The coordinator will also assist with safety incident documentation and coordinate learning teams, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed. The position requires tracking attendance, scheduling discipline meetings between leaders and employees, and submitting necessary documentation to HR promptly. The coordinator will also be responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and tracking training activities for all employees in the assigned areas. Responding to requests for information from other departments and supporting operational excellence pillar teams through active involvement is also part of the role. This includes scheduling and attending pillar team meetings, maintaining meeting notes and action lists, and compiling communications and documentation. The coordinator will also retrieve mail and packages from other plant locations and distribute them to the appropriate team members, as well as research sample issues and follow up with Supply Chain and/or Lab on findings. Other responsibilities may be assigned by leadership as needed.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education is a plus.
  • At least two years of relevant administrative experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Working knowledge of standard office administration procedures and techniques.
  • Accurate spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic skills are essential.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite is required; basic proficiency in timekeeping systems is also necessary.
  • Strong organizational skills and effective communication skills are required.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new technology in a self-directed manner.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal daily direct supervision.
  • Ability to understand process flows.
