About the position

The Area Operations Manager at RailPros is responsible for driving success and growth within the region by overseeing client prospecting, business development, financial performance tracking, resource coordination, and employee mentoring. This role also involves leadership responsibilities such as national conference presentations, organizational strategy, contract management, and growth planning, ensuring client satisfaction and effective communication across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue potential clients and business opportunities.
  • Promote cross-selling across service lines.
  • Track and prioritize business development activities.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to manage Tier 1 clients.
  • Attend regional industry events and evaluate sponsorship opportunities.
  • Monitor financial performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Coordinate resource needs and oversee staffing efforts.
  • Foster a positive work environment through mentoring and engagement initiatives.
  • Implement and maintain effective communication between the area, region, and corporate headquarters.
  • Identify internal and external training opportunities for the team.
  • Maintain oversight of client relationships, ensuring satisfaction beyond individual projects.
  • Support leadership in strategic decision-making and organizational structuring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (Masters preferred).
  • Professional Engineering license (PE) or equivalent.
  • 6+ years of leadership experience in regional or departmental roles within the engineering industry.
  • Proven experience with business development, project management, and financial oversight.
