About the position

The Area Parts Sales Manager for the Canadian Territory is a pivotal role within WIRTGEN AMERICA, tasked with the responsibility of planning, prospecting, and selling wear parts for our renowned Road Construction and Rehabilitation machine brands, which include WIRTGEN, VÖGELE, HAMM, and KLEEMANN. This position is crucial for maintaining our commitment to being Close to Our Customers across all Canadian provinces and territories. Candidates must possess the proper work authority to work in Canada, as visa sponsorship is not available for this role. In this role, the Area Parts Sales Manager will develop an annual business plan tailored to the assigned area, taking into account machine population, market conditions, and competitive landscape. The manager will compile lists of prospective customers from various sources, including company data, dealer contacts, and industry events, to generate sales leads. A significant aspect of the job involves extensive travel, approximately 70% of the time, to engage with both regular and prospective customers, ensuring their replacement parts needs are met effectively. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with dealers to set parts sales targets and strategies, promote machine inspections and rebuilds, and demonstrate product features and value to customers. Responsibilities also include quoting prices, preparing sales contracts, estimating delivery dates, and maintaining accurate reports of business transactions. The Area Parts Sales Manager will work alongside inside parts sales representatives to keep account activities updated and will monitor stock levels while fostering relationships with purchasing contacts. Additionally, the role requires identifying resources for increased sales, developing sales forecasts, coordinating customer and dealer training, and addressing any customer issues that may arise. Participation in trade shows and industry events is also a key component of this position, ensuring that WIRTGEN AMERICA remains a visible and trusted partner in the road-building industry.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an annual business plan for the assigned area of responsibility based on machine population, market conditions, and the competitive situation.
  • Compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads based on information from various sources.
  • Travel 70% throughout assigned provinces and territories to call on regular and prospective customers.
  • Work with dealers to establish parts sales targets and strategies.
  • Promote machine inspections and rebuilds via the dealer for WIRTGEN GROUP products.
  • Display or demonstrate product using samples and catalog, emphasizing features and value.
  • Quote prices and credit terms and prepare sales contracts for orders obtained.
  • Estimate delivery dates to customers based on production and delivery schedules.
  • Prepare reports of business transactions and keep expense accounts.
  • Work with inside parts sales representatives to keep account activities and literature current.
  • Monitor and recommend appropriate stock levels and develop relationships with purchasing contacts.
  • Identify and align resources for increased sales and develop sales forecasts.
  • Identify and coordinate customer and dealer training.
  • Report/updates dealer and customer data for the company database.
  • Service total customer needs and investigate and resolve customer problems.
  • Attend trade shows and participate in industry events as required.

Requirements

  • An associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and/or five years of construction equipment-related experience are required.
  • Knowledgeable in multiple areas of operation and equipment used in the road-building industry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and develop effective relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as an experienced presenter.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite for communication and presentation requirements.
