About the position

The Area Sales Manager (Distribution) will play a pivotal role in driving revenue and sales funnel growth with direct customers and distributor partners within their assigned territory. This position is home-based and will require 30-50% travel within the Eastern region of the United States. The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for managing relationships with customers and channel partners, as well as their respective sales representatives, utilizing the established sales management process. This includes preparing and presenting demonstrations and applications of the company's products, providing training, and offering follow-up technical support for both customers and distributors. In this role, the Area Sales Manager will generate revenue and sales funnel growth that aligns with company goals. This will involve developing and executing a growth plan for the territory through prospecting, acquiring new accounts, and providing commercial and technical support to current accounts. Close collaboration with customers and channel partners is essential to identify their needs and develop appropriate solutions that meet those needs. The Area Sales Manager will also be responsible for developing, presenting, and negotiating pricing proposals using value-selling methods. Additionally, the Area Sales Manager will provide sales and marketing support to customers and channel partners, acting as a liaison between the company and its customers. This role will also involve assisting in defining and implementing marketing plans in collaboration with the Product Management team to support long-term sales growth objectives and capture new customers. The Area Sales Manager will coordinate, schedule, and execute various activities such as training, visits, and audits in the assigned territory, partnering with cross-functional team members as needed. Furthermore, the Area Sales Manager will assist in developing standard policies and procedures to support ABS methods and metrics.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university required; a combination of education and experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • 3-5+ years of experience working with distribution or channel partners.
  • Experience with Industrial Automation or Robotics is required.
  • Proven track record of outside sales experience.
  • Technical consultative selling experience preferred.
