About the position

At Medtronic, the Enabling Technologies (Advanced Energy) Sales Representative II is tasked with establishing a strong sales presence in the designated area, mastering the product line and its applications across various environments, and following up on leads through a multi-faceted contact approach. The primary focus during the initial year will be to open new accounts, maintain existing business, and drive overall business growth exceeding $200k. This role is field-based and reports directly to the Regional Sales Manager, with no direct reports but significant interaction with a corporate team that includes marketing, engineering, clinical, and management personnel. These teams are essential for the successful development and launch of new products, as well as for supporting the representative in business growth. The responsibilities of the Sales Representative II include a comprehensive learning phase where the individual must meet with key personnel to understand all aspects of the technology, complete online training modules, and attend hands-on training programs. Within the first month, the representative is expected to familiarize themselves with the product line, including technical aspects, industry applications, and the selling process, achieving a minimum score of 90% on a comprehensive test. The role also involves implementing a Key Account Program, identifying major accounts, and developing strategic plans to enhance sales efforts. Sales targets and quotas are critical, with expectations to open new accounts and meet quarterly revenue targets within specified timeframes. Administrative tasks are also a key component, requiring timely forecasts, expense reports, and updates on business objectives. Building strong relationships with key accounts is essential, including conducting educational in-services and technical symposiums to foster collaboration and trust among clinical and administrative personnel. The role demands a commitment to executing innovative marketing strategies, compliance with quality systems, and adherence to environmental and safety regulations. The representative must also be prepared to travel extensively, up to 75%, and work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed. Overall, this position is integral to Medtronic's mission of championing healthcare access and equity, requiring a proactive and dedicated approach to sales and relationship management.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the Product Line by meeting with key personnel and completing training modules.
  • Implement Key Account Program by identifying major accounts and developing sales strategies.
  • Achieve Sales Targets and Quotas by reviewing territory sales plans and developing new programs.
  • Keep Current With Administrative Tasks by providing timely forecasts and reports to the Regional Sales Manager.
  • Develop Account Relationships by conducting educational in-services and technical symposiums in key accounts.
  • Execute an innovative marketing strategy using the Internet for demand generation and education.
  • Perform all activities in compliance with the Quality System and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree AND a minimum of 3 years of sales experience with 1 year in medical sales; or
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 1 year of Medtronic Neuroscience experience along with 2 years of additional sales or clinical experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance policy.
