About the position

The Area Sales Manager (ASM) at Google is a pivotal role responsible for driving revenue, margin, and market share goals across various client brands within assigned direct and indirect stores. This position requires the ASM to execute strategic and tactical business development plans tailored to the specific region, ensuring sales and market share growth at every location. The ASM will serve as the primary contact for DM level across carrier partners, maintaining strong relationships and alignment with key individuals within the brand's sales channels. The role involves managing a team of Territory Sales Managers (TSMs) to build and maintain trusting relationships, train and engage store sales associates on products and devices, and advocate for the brand's products. In this role, the ASM will lead and develop a team of TSMs across a large geographic territory, focusing on store visits to foster relationships and drive sell-through. The ASM is expected to create a supportive and collaborative environment that empowers team members to demonstrate thought leadership and make informed decisions. Establishing strong partnerships with carrier regional and field leadership is crucial to enhance brand engagement and identify growth opportunities. The ASM will inspire and motivate a team of experienced sales professionals to achieve business targets, prioritizing store visits during peak traffic periods to maximize impact and meet training objectives. The ASM will also be responsible for budget management, conducting performance reviews, and overseeing HR policies, training, hiring processes, and payroll. Maintaining a visible presence in the designated region through regular field visits is essential to ensure excellence in TSM engagements and training events. The role demands adaptability to an ever-changing business landscape, requiring the ASM to lead and coach through various mediums, especially when face-to-face interactions are not possible.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of combined direct sales/retail sales experience
  • 1-3+ years' supervisor/management experience in retail and/or retail sales field management
  • Proven experience in data reporting and analytical reporting
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience planning, monitoring, and managing departmental budget
  • Passion for technology and leading others
  • Ability to analyze sales and market territory data
  • Critical thinking to evaluate, assess, and make recommendations to senior leadership
  • Outstanding organizational, time management, attention to detail, and prioritization skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills to work closely with leaders and team members
  • Excellent judgment and effective problem-resolution skills
  • Ability to empower team members and create a supportive environment
  • Comfortability with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Slides)
  • Ability to travel 50-75% of the time.
