About the position

The Area Sales Manager at Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington DC is responsible for driving sales and revenue growth through proactive and reactive selling strategies. This role focuses on maintaining key accounts, developing the sales team, and achieving hotel revenue goals, including room bookings and food and beverage contributions. The position requires strong communication and organizational skills to manage relationships with clients and coordinate sales efforts across the region.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a balance of proactive and reactive selling, maintenance and growth of key accounts, and sales team development.
  • Utilize strategic sales and revenue leadership skills within the organization.
  • Conduct outside sales, prospecting, and cold calling.
  • Answer faxes, memos, field requests, and inquiries.
  • Visit other hotels to assess competitors.
  • Provide weekly schedules, monthly production reports, and action plans to Regional DOSM and Director of Operations.
  • Attend and contribute to monthly meetings and special projects as assigned.
  • Collaborate with individual and regional DOSM and City Sales Managers for effective communication and sales efforts.
  • Support and communicate Home Office programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate representation with decision makers during city onsite inspections.
  • Travel to key markets to meet with existing and new customers for upcoming Groups/Meetings.
  • Attend tradeshows and organizational meetings as the sales representative.
  • Practice total account management by harvesting Group and Meetings business from qualified accounts.
  • Conduct local outside sales calls and site inspections of assigned Kimpton Hotels.
  • Attend national tradeshows for networking and exposure.
  • Coordinate and conduct qualified FAM trips.
  • Regularly communicate with the field regarding leads, trends, rates, and 'need' dates.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed notes/traces in Delphi and preferred account files.
  • Follow-up with clients to thank them for business and to re-book for future years.
  • Maintain focus on future booking pace from assigned accounts.
  • Entertain clients and conduct sales calls with established and potential accounts.
  • Renegotiate future year contracts to maximize rates, revenue, and meeting space.
  • Anticipate new needs of accounts to ensure evolution with customers.
  • Refer sister hotels in other Kimpton cities for future business opportunities.
  • Gather monthly activities and production of assigned account base for presentation to General Managers and Directors of Sales.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of sales experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and people, while exhibiting a consistent level of integrity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to sell a multi-faceted product mix.
  • Detailed knowledge of regional Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants.
  • Knowledge of the selling and negotiation processes and designated markets of focus.
  • Knowledge of CRM platform, Microsoft Office Suite, and Delphi Systems.
