About the position

Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US LLC is seeking an Area Sales Manager I, Residential in Richmond, VA, with the primary goal of increasing market share for Mitsubishi Electric systems. This position focuses on building and leveraging relationships with key distributor personnel and local contractors. The Area Sales Manager will play a crucial role in acquiring, training, and supporting both new and existing Diamond Contractors, thereby driving success in the marketplace and positively impacting growth for contractors, distributors, and METUS. The essential functions of this role include partnering with distributor staff and contractors to execute growth plans while expanding the Diamond Contractor Community. The Area Sales Manager will further develop partnerships with distributor sales teams, contractors, utility companies, and builders to facilitate sales growth. A significant aspect of the role involves selling the value proposition of Mitsubishi Electric products, emphasizing the benefits of the company's comprehensive range of whole home solutions. The manager will also participate in local professional groups, industry associations, distributor trade shows, and other events to promote the brand. In addition, the Area Sales Manager will administer and conduct sales and applications training, marketing programs, and annual reviews at both the contractor and distributor levels. They will assist distributors with inventory reporting and job quoting as needed, develop distributor sales personnel to proficiently sell Mitsubishi products to residential contractors, and create a Residential Market Strategy for the territory using market data. Maintaining and updating contractor information in Salesforce, developing proficiency in application and installation methods for new and existing products, and reporting monthly to the Regional Manager on market conditions and activities are also key responsibilities. The role requires willingness to travel up to 50% within the assigned territory for meetings and events.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Commercial BU counterparts to capitalize on sales opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of sales experience, preferably in the HVAC industry.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience calling on residential and mechanical contractors.
  • Familiarity with HVAC wholesale and dealer organizations is helpful.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce is a plus.
  • Demonstrated public speaking skills to both small and large groups.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Team player demonstrating METUS core values.

Nice-to-haves
