About the position

The Area Sales Manager I, Residential at Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US LLC is a pivotal role aimed at expanding the market share of Mitsubishi Electric systems in New Mexico and West Texas. This position focuses on building and leveraging relationships with key distributor personnel and local contractors to drive sales growth. The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for acquiring, training, and supporting both new and existing Diamond Contractors, ensuring their success in the marketplace, which in turn positively impacts growth for the contractors, distributors, and METUS. In this role, the Area Sales Manager will partner with distributor staff and contractors to execute growth plans while enhancing the Diamond Contractor Community. The position requires further development of partnerships with distributor sales teams, contractors, utility companies, and builders to facilitate sales growth. The Area Sales Manager will effectively communicate the value proposition of Mitsubishi Electric's broad line of whole home solutions, participate in local professional groups, industry associations, and trade shows, and conduct sales and applications training at both contractor and distributor levels. Additionally, the Area Sales Manager will assist distributors with inventory reporting and job quoting, develop the sales personnel of distributors to proficiently sell Mitsubishi products, and create a Residential Market Strategy for the territory based on market data. Maintaining and updating contractor information in Salesforce, developing proficiency in application and installation methods, and reporting monthly to the Regional Manager on market conditions and activities are also key responsibilities. The role may require travel up to 50% within the assigned territory for meetings and events.

Responsibilities

  • Grow market share of Mitsubishi Electric systems by developing relationships with key distributor personnel and local contractors.
  • Acquire, train, and support new or existing Diamond Contractors to drive success in the marketplace.
  • Partner with distributor staff and contractors to execute growth plans while enhancing the Diamond Contractor Community.
  • Develop partnerships with distributor sales teams, contractors, utility companies, and builders for sales growth.
  • Sell the value proposition of Mitsubishi's whole home solutions.
  • Participate in local professional groups, industry associations, and trade shows.
  • Administer and conduct sales and applications training, marketing programs, and annual reviews at the contractor and distributor level.
  • Assist distribution with inventory reporting and job quoting as needed.
  • Develop distributors' sales personnel to be proficient in selling Mitsubishi products to residential contractors.
  • Develop Residential Market Strategy for the territory using market data.
  • Maintain and update all contractor information in Salesforce.
  • Develop proficiency in application and installation methods for new and existing products.
  • Report to Regional Manager monthly on market conditions and activities.
  • Work with Commercial BU counterparts to capitalize on sales opportunities for the entire ME US product line.
  • Travel up to 50% within the assigned territory for meetings and events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of sales experience, preferably in the HVAC industry.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience calling on residential and mechanical contractors.
  • Familiarity with HVAC wholesale and dealer organizations is helpful.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce is a plus.
  • Demonstrated public speaking skills to both small and large groups.
  • Must reside in the Business Unit Territory/Geography.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Team player demonstrating METUS core values.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in HVAC industry sales training.
  • Knowledge of market data analysis for residential strategies.
