About the position

The Area Sales Manager II, Residential at Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US LLC is a pivotal role aimed at expanding the market share of Mitsubishi Electric systems in Western Massachusetts and Vermont. This position is designed for a dynamic individual who can leverage existing relationships with key distributor personnel and local contractors to drive sales growth. The Area Sales Manager will focus on acquiring, training, and supporting new or existing Diamond Contractors, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge necessary to succeed in the marketplace. This role is not just about sales; it’s about building partnerships and fostering a collaborative environment that benefits contractors, distributors, and the company alike. In this position, the Area Sales Manager will partner with distributor staff and contractors to execute growth plans while implementing innovative business development strategies. The role requires a proactive approach to developing partnerships with distributor management, contractors, utility companies, and builders to facilitate sales growth. The Area Sales Manager will articulate the value proposition of Mitsubishi Electric products, emphasizing the benefits of the company’s comprehensive range of whole home solutions. Participation in local professional groups, industry associations, and trade shows is essential to maintain visibility and engagement within the industry. The Area Sales Manager will also be responsible for conducting territory analyses to assess performance and growth opportunities. This includes administering sales and applications training, marketing programs, and annual reviews at both the contractor and distributor levels. The role involves assisting distributors with inventory reporting and job quoting, as well as developing distributor sales personnel to effectively sell Mitsubishi products to residential contractors. A strategic approach to developing a Residential Market Strategy for the territory using market data is crucial. The position requires regular reporting to the Regional Manager on market conditions and activities, as well as a commitment to growing the Diamond Contractor base in collaboration with distributor territory managers. The Area Sales Manager will also work closely with the Commercial Business Unit counterparts to capitalize on sales opportunities across the entire Mitsubishi Electric US product line. This role demands a commitment to continuous improvement and personal development, with a focus on meeting or exceeding assigned annual goals. The Area Sales Manager will also play a key role in onboarding new hires, helping them acclimate to the functions of the ASM I role. Travel is expected to be up to 50% within the assigned territory for meetings and training sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with distributor staff and contractors to execute growth plans while implementing business development concepts.
  • Further develop partnerships with Distributor management and staff, contractors, utility companies, and builders as necessary for sales growth.
  • Sell the value proposition of Mitsubishi's broad line of whole home solutions.
  • Participate in local professional groups, industry associations, Distributor trade shows, and other event functions.
  • Prepare territory analysis pertaining to performance and growth.
  • Administer and conduct sales and applications training, marketing programs, and annual reviews at the contractor and distributor level.
  • Assist distribution with inventory reporting and job quoting as needed.
  • Develop Distributors sales personnel to be proficient in selling/offering Mitsubishi products to residential contractors.
  • Develop Residential Market Strategy for the territory using market data.
  • Maintain and update all new and existing contractor information in Salesforce.
  • Report to Regional Manager monthly on market conditions and activities.
  • Grow and develop the Diamond Contractor base with distributor territory managers.
  • Work with Commercial BU counterparts as needed to capitalize on sales opportunities for the entire ME US product line.
  • Assist Regional Manager in multiple distributor trainings, performance reviews, and shared information sessions.
  • Consistently serve and exceed the expectation of an assigned Business Unit Champion role.
  • Work with BU management to develop a personal development path to address strengths and weaknesses to prepare for advancement.
  • Consistently meet and/or exceed assigned annual IPM goals.
  • Assist in the development process of new hires to help familiarize them in the basic functions of the ASM I role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or related experience.
  • 5 years+ sales experience preferably in the HVAC industry.
  • 5 years+ calling on residential and mechanical contractors.
  • Familiar with HVAC wholesale and dealer organizations.
  • Demonstrated communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Able to understand and execute business plans (Distributor, Contractor, etc.).
  • Basic/Proficient with PowerPoint/Excel/Word and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiar with Salesforce, a plus.
  • Demonstrated public speaking skills to both small and large groups.
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement/Lean Organization to include participation in Kaizen event(s).
  • Must reside in the Business Unit Territory/Geography.
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
