About the position

The Area Sales Manager (ASM) position at Allison Transmission is a pivotal role responsible for driving sales and fostering relationships within the Michigan and Northwest Ohio regions. The ASM will be tasked with developing and executing comprehensive sales plans aimed at increasing demand for Allison's products. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and pursuing incremental sales opportunities in targeted markets, ensuring that the company's business objectives are met effectively. In addition to sales planning, the ASM will play a crucial role in gathering and reporting real-time market trends and customer feedback, which will inform key business decisions made by senior leadership. The position involves close collaboration with Allison Distributors to support growth across various business segments, ensuring that the company remains competitive and responsive to market needs. The ASM will also serve as a valuable resource for customers, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) dealers, and distributors, providing training, support, and vehicle specifications to foster long-term relationships. Responsibilities include delivering impactful sales presentations, conducting vehicle application analyses, negotiating sales incentives, and representing Allison at industry trade shows and meetings. The ASM will be expected to provide high levels of customer support, thereby enhancing customer enthusiasm for Allison products and developing growth opportunities with channel partners.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute area sales plans and activities to increase demand for Allison products.
  • Identify and pursue incremental sales volume in targeted markets.
  • Manage and implement key growth initiatives and programs.
  • Become a valuable resource for customers, OEM dealers, and distributors through training and support.
  • Develop and execute sales presentations to dealers, distributors, and end-user customers.
  • Complete vehicle application analysis to ensure proper product utilization and optimization.
  • Negotiate and manage sales incentives.
  • Represent Allison at industry trade shows and exhibits, and industry associations and meetings.
  • Report real-time market dynamics and competitive updates to support forecasting efforts.
  • Provide high-level customer support to influence customer enthusiasm for Allison products.
  • Develop relationships and growth opportunities with channel partners.
  • Develop product knowledge and understand the advantages of Allison products.
  • Gain local market knowledge and work cross-functionally to provide superior customer support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience, preferably in the commercial truck industry.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Previous sales or customer support experience or Allison related experience.
  • High level of interpersonal skills.
  • Highly self-motivated with strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functions to achieve sales objectives and goals.
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis for company business.
