About the position

Ascent Hospitality is seeking a dedicated and experienced Area Sales Manager for our new hotel opening in Carmel, IN. This position is crucial for leading the Area Cluster Sales team and managing the on-property sales team to achieve individual booking goals and defined property revenue targets. The Area Sales Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring guest and team member satisfaction while implementing key sales initiatives and executing the sales and marketing strategies for multiple hotels within the portfolio, as assigned by the Regional Director of Sales. In this role, the Area Sales Manager will be responsible for executing the sales strategy, conducting aggressive solicitation processes, and cultivating lead sources through direct sales calls and follow-up communications. The manager will develop strategic account plans for demand generators in the market, focusing on both proactive and reactive selling to meet individual and group goals. Additionally, the Area Sales Manager will determine and develop marketing communication activities in collaboration with Regional Marketing Communications, providing customer intelligence to evaluate market trends and adjust sales strategies accordingly. The position requires building strong partnerships with local organizations to enhance brand awareness and reviewing competitive reports to maintain an understanding of the hotel's market position. The Area Sales Manager will also participate in sales strategy meetings, suggest innovative marketing ideas, and serve as the primary sales contact for the General Manager and other stakeholders. This role demands exemplary customer service to drive satisfaction and loyalty, ensuring that all customer needs are met before and during their events. The Area Sales Manager will also support the General Manager in crisis communications and execute operational aspects of business booked, including generating proposals and writing contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Area Cluster Sales team and manage the on-property sales team.
  • Achieve individual booking goals and defined property revenue targets.
  • Implement key sales initiatives and execute sales and marketing strategies for multiple hotels.
  • Conduct aggressive solicitation processes involving outside sales calls, inside appointments, and direct mail.
  • Cultivate lead sources through direct sales calls and follow-up communications.
  • Develop strategic account plans for demand generators in the market.
  • Focus on proactive and reactive selling with individual and group goals.
  • Determine and develop marketing communication activities in conjunction with Regional Marketing Communications.
  • Provide customer intelligence to evaluate market and economic trends.
  • Develop partnerships with local organizations to increase brand awareness.
  • Review competitive reports to maintain awareness of the hotel's market position.
  • Attend sales strategy meetings and provide input on overall sales strategy.
  • Suggest innovative marketing ideas and develop deployment strategies.
  • Serve as the sales contact for the General Manager and Regional Sales leaders.
  • Coordinate public relations opportunities and activities.
  • Support the General Manager in crisis communications.
  • Execute customer service standards and hotel brand standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; college education preferred.
  • At least three years of hotel sales experience, particularly in a multi-hotel complex.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships.
  • Highly responsible, reliable, and ethical.
  • Well organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle.
