About the position

The Area Sales Manager plays a critical role in driving the identification and adoption of new procedures for the Novalung system. This position requires a strategic approach to expand the use of the Novalung Extracorporeal Life Support technology by partnering with leadership, sales, marketing, and clinical specialists. The Area Sales Manager will focus on identifying and developing Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to enhance the adoption of this technology. Additionally, the role involves coaching, counseling, and training local sales representatives on how to effectively sell to specialists within their assigned hospital accounts. This is a unique opportunity for a senior-level sales professional who is dedicated to expanding the adoption of targeted users for the Novalung system. The Area Sales Manager is responsible for developing professional expertise and applying company policies and procedures to achieve projected quarterly sales goals for assigned Heart and Lung products. This includes creating business plans for their geography and implementing national sales strategies and programs. The manager must maintain accurate and timely reports, including sales calls, product market shares, demographics, and sales target reports. Participation in local and regional tradeshows, national sales meetings, and required training is also essential. The role requires effective communication and collaboration with supervisors and company personnel while operating within an annual budget. In addition to achieving sales goals, the Area Sales Manager will develop strong professional relationships with customers, utilize the SAP Customer Relations Management (CRM) tool daily, and maintain timely management of customer contracts. The position also involves executing sales activities to support KOL development, conducting on-site and wet lab training, and leading advanced regional training programs. The manager will serve as a market intelligence liaison for marketing and training teams, conduct hospital and practice executive presentations, and analyze targeted specialty procedure trends to manage appropriately. This role may also include additional responsibilities focused on specific departments or locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develops professional expertise and applies company policies and procedures to achieve projected quarterly sales goals for assigned Heart and Lung products.
  • Develops business plans for their geography and implements national sales strategies and programs.
  • Achieves assigned quarterly sales goals.
  • Maintains accurate and timely reports including sales calls, product market shares, demographics, and sales target reports.
  • Attends local and regional tradeshows that are important to the Senior Regional Sales Manager's business.
  • Participates in national sales meetings and all required training.
  • Communicates and works effectively with supervisor and company personnel.
  • Operates within operating expense budget annually.
  • Maintains proficiency on all products and represents the company positively to customers during and after duty hours.
  • Develops strong professional relationships with customers.
  • Utilizes the SAP Customer Relations Management (CRM) tool daily and maintains all current customer contact and product sales call information.
  • Maintains timely and accurate management of customer contracts.
  • Reviews and complies with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Assists with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor.
  • Achieves regular and consistent face-to-face coverage of customers.
  • Develops Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) for ECMO and potential further expansion towards other clinical indications.
  • Conducts strategic market development activities in collaboration with sales leadership.
  • Executes all sales activities in support of developing KOL proficiency as a Novalung user.
  • Conducts on-site and wet lab training and develops advanced regional training programs.
  • Serves as the market intelligence liaison for marketing and training teams.
  • Conducts hospital and practice executive presentations and develops future training pipeline.
  • Identifies area needs and coordinates competency programs with support from marketing and clinical support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; in lieu of degree, extensive relevant technical, clinical, or related industry experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 2 - 5 years of Cardiopulmonary or Cardiac medical device sales experience required.
  • 5+ years of medical device sales required.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
  • Public speaking, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Track record of individual sales excellence.
  • Excellent clinical selling skills and ability to quickly build credibility with a highly educated customer base.
  • Strong clinical knowledge in extracorporeal technology and ECMO.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity and work in an environment of change.
  • Proven ability to influence peers.
  • Effective communication skills across a broad organization with a variety of focuses.
  • Training and Leadership experience strongly preferred.
