About the position

Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits is seeking an Area Sales Manager for the Off Premise segment in the NTX region. This role is pivotal in developing and leading a team of Sales Consultants who represent the company in the market. The ideal candidate will be passionate, innovative, and self-motivated, possessing a business-oriented mindset focused on team development and customer satisfaction. The Area Sales Manager will oversee all commercial sales activities across a large territory, district, or region, which includes managing customer relationships, executing sales strategies, and ensuring the successful implementation of supplier programs. In this position, the Area Manager will be responsible for creating and executing territory sales plans that align with the company's goals and objectives, taking into account the unique characteristics of various customer segments. Regular team meetings will be established to communicate the sales plan and set priorities for the team, focusing on Proof Sales, marketing campaigns, and sales promotions. The Area Manager will also coach each sales consultant on their sales pre-planning effectiveness, helping them build a robust pipeline of opportunities to meet their objectives. This includes enhancing product knowledge, resolving workload issues, and fostering career growth within the team. Additionally, the Area Manager will assess talent, hire new staff, and manage disciplinary actions, including terminations when necessary. Budget management is also a key responsibility, as the Area Manager will analyze and control team expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary requirements. This role may also involve other job-related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the sales team and the company.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and manage a team of sales consultants; evaluate performance against established developmental goals.
  • Develop territory sales plans to achieve goals and objectives considering unique customer segments.
  • Create a regular team meeting cadence to communicate the territory sales plan and establish team objective priorities.
  • Coach each sales consultant on the effectiveness of their Sales pre-plan including agenda, visit notes, and opportunities.
  • Coach each sales consultant on building an effective pipeline of opportunities in Proof Sales to achieve their objectives.
  • Assess talent, hire staff, and manage disciplinary actions including terminations.
  • Analyze and manage team expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree plus three years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of beverage alcohol products, SGWS portfolio, and key product features and benefits.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
