About the position

The Software Area Sales Manager (ASM) role at Motorola Solutions is a pivotal position responsible for driving revenue growth through the development and management of software sales in the Northeast Region. This role encompasses a wide range of software products, including Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management Systems (RMS), Call Handling, and Cloud Services. The ASM will proactively identify and develop significant software project opportunities, leveraging both core and emerging technologies to meet the needs of public safety agencies and public service markets. In this role, the ASM will cultivate strong, trusted relationships with key decision-makers and influencers, such as governors, mayors, and CIOs, to understand their funding needs and influence decision-making processes. The position requires a strategic approach to sales, including the hiring, development, and coaching of a team of enterprise-level sales professionals. The ASM will lead internal teams on critical projects, ensuring clear direction and purpose while maintaining a healthy sales pipeline to achieve both order and revenue targets. The ASM will also be responsible for maintaining customer intelligence data within the Motorola CRM system, providing timely and accurate sales forecasts, and driving strategies with government customers to ensure success in the competitive bid environment. This role demands a high level of motivation, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to navigate the complexities of the public safety sector. The ASM must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time to meet with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively develop significant software project opportunities encompassing a wide range of products and services (core, cloud and emerging technologies).
  • Develop strong, trusted advisor relationships with key decision makers and influencers within and outside of public safety.
  • Interact with Senior customer level and consultants/lobbyists; work independently under limited direction.
  • Responsible for the strategy and execution of the sales team which includes hiring, developing, and coaching a team of enterprise level sales professionals.
  • Interface with all team members in a way that drives business results and motivates the proper activity.
  • Effectively lead internal teams on critical projects and issue resolution with clear direction and purpose.
  • Maintain target Customer intelligence data in Motorola CRM system and provide timely & accurate sales forecast.
  • Drive strategies with government customers for Motorola success in the bid environment.
  • Achieve both order and revenue financial performance for territory by creating and maintaining a healthy team pipeline.
  • Network with key Motorola Solution's work partners including presales, solution engineers, system integration, support team, marketing, product management, sales operations, order/credit management to ensure territory objectives are met.
  • Accurately forecast territory order and revenue numbers on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Leverage territory promotions and incentives to drive current quarter revenue targets.
  • Conduct joint end user sales calls as a method of coaching and training.
  • Function as a coach/consultant to Sales Team to drive efficiencies and contributions.
  • Be aware of competition and technology disruptors that may impact your territory and partner community.
  • Understand Motorola Solutions contract terms & compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of sales/public safety experience OR 9+ years of sales/public safety experience.
  • 5+ years of documented track record of sales performance within a technology environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with CRM systems, specifically Salesforce.com.
  • Highly motivated and results oriented.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
