About the position

The Area Sales Manager (ASM) for the Southeast Region at Hitachi Energy USA Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting the sales organization and customers throughout the sales process within a specific assigned area. This position reports directly to the Marketing & Sales Manager for Grid Components, focusing on products such as Instrument Transformers, Power Quality Products, Surge Arresters, and Disconnect Switches. The ASM is responsible for increasing both new and existing sales by actively supporting the sales organization and promoting Hitachi Energy products internally and externally. This includes conducting webinars, seminars, presentations, and Lunch & Learns to educate and influence customer specifications. In addition to promoting products, the ASM will analyze customer needs and competitor offers by gathering general market information and insights from the local sales organization. They will ensure efficient marketing actions and communication to both the local sales organization and customers. The ASM will prepare offers in coordination with the bid and proposal department and/or the Marketing Manager, ensuring that all technical and financial aspects of offers are appropriate, including pricing and trading conditions. The role also involves managing administrative procedures in the sales process and supporting collection and project management activities as needed. The ASM will communicate the value proposition of Hitachi Energy's products, systems, services, and packages, while also providing competitive data on the market, products, and competitors. They will report monthly sales activities, customer visits, and request sales forecasts, all while embodying Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for their actions while caring for colleagues and the business.

Responsibilities

  • Increase new and existing sales and business by supporting the Sales organization.
  • Promote Hitachi Energy products internally and externally through webinars, seminars, presentations, and Lunch & Learns.
  • Influence customer specifications and provide relevant product knowledge to customers and the sales organization.
  • Create sales plans jointly with FES, REPS, and the Account organization.
  • Analyze customer needs and competitor offers using market information and insights from the local Sales organization.
  • Ensure efficient marketing actions and communication to local Sales organization and customers.
  • Prepare offers in coordination with the bid and proposal department and/or the Marketing Manager, ensuring appropriate technical and financial aspects.
  • Manage administrative procedures in sales processes and support collection and project management activities when needed.
  • Communicate the value proposition of products, systems, services, and packages.
  • Provide competitive data on market, product, and competitors, along with clear pricing indicators for projects.
  • Communicate details in accordance with Hitachi Energy's offerings and strategy, including delivery time, payments, and general terms and conditions.
  • Provide status reviews and propose recovery plans in cases of potential order shortfalls.
  • Report monthly sales activities and customer visits, and request sales forecasts.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of experience in the Power Industry.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills.
