About the position

The Area Sales Manager (ASM) for the Southeast Region plays a crucial role in supporting the sales organization and customers throughout the sales process within a specific assigned area. This position reports directly to the Marketing & Sales Manager for Grid Components, focusing on products such as Instrument Transformers, Power Quality Products, Surge Arresters, and Disconnect Switches. The ASM is responsible for driving sales growth by increasing both new and existing business opportunities. This involves promoting Hitachi Energy products through various channels, including webinars, seminars, presentations, and Lunch & Learns, to enhance product visibility and influence customer specifications. In addition to promoting products, the ASM is tasked with providing relevant knowledge about these products to customers and the sales organization. This includes creating collaborative sales plans with Field Engineering Services (FES), Regional Engineers (REPS), and the Account organization. The ASM will also engage in bid operations, analyzing customer needs and competitor offers by leveraging market information and insights from the local sales team. Effective marketing actions and communication strategies are essential to ensure that the local sales organization and customers are well-informed. The role requires the preparation of offers in coordination with the bid and proposal department and/or the Marketing Manager, ensuring that all technical and financial aspects of the offers are appropriately addressed, including pricing and trading conditions. The ASM will manage administrative procedures in the sales process and support collection and project management activities as needed. A key part of the role is to communicate the value proposition of Hitachi Energy's products, systems, services, and packages, while also providing competitive data on the market, products, and competitors to inform pricing strategies for projects. The ASM will conduct monthly sales activities, customer visits, and request sales forecasts, while also providing status reviews and proposing recovery plans in cases of potential order shortfalls. Responsibilities

  • Increase new and existing sales and business by supporting the Sales organization.
  • Promote Hitachi Energy products internally and externally through webinars, seminars, presentations, and Lunch & Learns.
  • Influence customer specifications and provide relevant product knowledge to customers and the sales organization.
  • Create sales plans jointly with Field Engineering Services (FES), Regional Engineers (REPS), and the Account organization.
  • Engage in bid operations and analyze customer needs and competitor offers using market information.
  • Ensure efficient marketing actions and communication to the local Sales organization and customers.
  • Prepare offers in coordination with the bid and proposal department and/or the Marketing Manager, ensuring technical and financial aspects are addressed.
  • Manage administrative procedures in sales processes and support collection and project management activities as needed.
  • Communicate the value proposition of products, systems, services, and packages.
  • Provide competitive data on market, product, and competitors, and clear pricing indicators for projects.
  • Communicate details in accordance with Hitachi Energy's offerings and strategy, including delivery time, payments, and general terms and conditions.
  • Provide status reviews and propose recovery plans in cases of potential order shortfalls.
  • Conduct monthly sales activities and customer visits, and request sales forecasts.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of experience in the Power Industry.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Must have work authorization to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
