About the position

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the sales and marketing department of the hotel, aiming to maximize sales revenue and ensure that the sales staff actively meet budgeted goals. This role involves developing sales strategies, managing marketing efforts, and training the sales team to enhance performance and guest service.

Responsibilities

  • Develop sales strategies for the property, including targeted market segments and rate management.
  • Create an annual marketing plan with monthly reviews to adapt to market conditions.
  • Implement control procedures and yield management to balance rate availability with market demand.
  • Establish and execute an effective outside sales program.
  • Direct the internal servicing of groups.
  • Collaborate with the hotel management team and General Manager.
  • Train sales and marketing staff, holding them accountable for results.
  • Foster a cooperative and friendly work environment with colleagues.
  • Promote a culture of guest service and maintain a positive attitude in all interactions.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the General Manager.

Requirements

  • Strong business communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • 3 years of proven hotel sales experience with a track record of creative thinking and leadership.
  • High work ethic and self-initiative.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite.
  • Basic computational ability.
  • Ability to maintain excellent relationships with staff and confidentiality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in leading departmental and hotel team meetings.
  • Ability to work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
