The Area Sales Manager at Victory Packaging, a Smurfit Westrock company, plays a crucial role in driving sales and managing the sales team. In addition to team management, the Area Sales Manager will recruit well-qualified sales team members and develop a deep understanding of key customers and targets. This role requires identifying cost-saving opportunities within the customer's environment and leveraging all available resources to build effective solutions. The Area Sales Manager will work closely with the management team to establish a sales budget, develop strategies, and create tactical sales plans tailored to specific product lines, customers, and market segments. The position also involves planning and directing staffing, training, and performance evaluations to enhance and control sales programs. Regular review of operational records and reports is necessary to project sales and assess profitability. Supporting the sales team and defining new business opportunities are essential functions of this role, contributing to the overall success of Victory Packaging.

Responsibilities

  • Plan strategic development of core client base prospecting for new clients
  • Oversee development of all sales staff and mentor new salespeople
  • Recruit well-qualified sales team members
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of key customers and targets
  • Identify cost savings opportunities within the customer's environment
  • Utilize all Victory's resources to build solutions, implement the plan and document successes

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree
  • Solid sales leadership and management experience
  • 3-5 years selling experience
  • Change management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
