About the position

Atlas Copco Rental, a leader in air and steam rental solutions, is seeking a highly technical, proactive, and self-motivated professional to fill the role of Area Sales Manager for Steam Solutions, specifically covering California. This position is crucial as it involves generating new business, maintaining an existing customer base, and maximizing customer satisfaction within the boiler rental industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding the customer base within the assigned territory, promoting Atlas Copco Rental's boiler rental business, and ensuring that customer needs are met effectively. The Area Sales Manager will engage in daily interactions with both regular and prospective customers, utilizing phone calls and planned visits throughout the territory. This role requires close collaboration with technical staff to provide comprehensive job site assessments, application solutions, equipment sizing, and problem resolution. The ASM will also coordinate project specifications with internal operational personnel to ensure that project objectives align with customer timelines and requirements. Monitoring competitor products, sales, and marketing activities is essential to stay competitive in the market. Additionally, the Area Sales Manager will prepare accurate and current progress reports for management regarding the status of all pending opportunities and customer-related activities. In collaboration with management, the ASM will develop and achieve an Annual Territory Sales Plan that sets key performance indicators (KPIs), revenue, and market growth targets. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, capable of managing multiple opportunities and clients concurrently, and able to work effectively without detailed day-to-day direction. The successful ASM will be driven to improve revenue for Steam Solutions in California and will act as a Subject Matter Expert in the steam industry, focusing on business growth in the assigned area.

Responsibilities

  • Expand existing customer base within assigned territory to promote Atlas Copco Rental's boiler rental business.
  • Daily calling on regular and prospective customers via phone or traveling throughout the assigned territory for planned visits and cold calling.
  • Work closely with technical staff to provide customers with job site assessments, application solutions, equipment sizing, problem resolution, and follow-through.
  • Coordinate project specs with internal operational personnel to ensure that the objective of the project is accomplished in accordance with the customer timeline and requirements.
  • Monitor competitor products, sales, and marketing activities.
  • Prepare accurate and current progress reports for management on the status of all pending opportunities and customer-related activities.
  • Develop and achieve applicable Annual Territory Sales Plan which sets KPIs, revenue & market growth targets.
  • Manage multiple opportunities and clients concurrently without detailed day-to-day direction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or business preferred.
  • Minimum five years outside sales experience in HVAC, generators, chillers, boilers, or heat exchangers, with previous experience in a rental/leasing environment.
