As an Area Sales Manager at Performance Foodservice, you will be responsible for the development of independent account business, focusing on overall profitability through both new sales and account penetration. Your role will involve promoting and selling company-branded products while meeting brand sales objectives. Additionally, you will support customer service activities for regional and/or national chain customers, enhancing the visibility of the company in the marketplace and maximizing market share. You will function as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duties assigned to best serve the company. In this position, you will generate additional business by analyzing your sales territory and individual customers. This includes sampling products with existing and potential customers, planning general sales strategies, managing your time and territory effectively, and conducting impactful sales presentations. You will be tasked with growing sales and profit margins continuously to meet established sales and margin goals. You will also set up new customer accounts by determining pricing, working with the Credit Department for initial authorization, and coordinating with other personnel for scheduling order-taking and deliveries. Ensuring customer satisfaction is paramount, and you will work closely with other center personnel to coordinate efforts to prevent and resolve customer issues. In emergency situations, you may be responsible for making deliveries personally. Building additional business with current customers through product penetration will be essential to maximize the profitability of individual accounts. You will monitor accounts for compliance with credit terms to minimize accounts receivable problems and maintain awareness of pricing trends within your sales territory, particularly for market-driven and commodity products, to ensure competitive pricing. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.
