About the position

The Area Sales Manager at Dillard's, Inc. is responsible for driving sales performance and managing a high-performance team within a designated area. This role focuses on achieving sales and inventory goals while ensuring exceptional customer service and team motivation. The manager will oversee various operational activities, including merchandising and staffing, and will play a key role in developing merchandise selections that align with customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve established sales, gross margin, staffing, credit, and inventory goals for the assigned area.
  • Recruit, coach, and supervise associates, ensuring high levels of performance and motivation.
  • Manage all activities in your area, including merchandising, staffing, price changes, inventory control, and store upkeep.
  • Communicate with buying staff to develop merchandise selections that meet customer needs.
  • Participate in store opening/closing procedures, assist with associate and customer concerns, and handle any additional tasks as needed.
  • Build and maintain a high-performance team through education, coaching, and performance appraisals.
  • Set, communicate, and monitor team productivity and service goals.
  • Manage the team's schedule within budgeted hours and based on business needs.
  • Direct sales support associates and assign day-to-day tasks.
  • Exercise independent judgment in hiring, promoting, assigning, and compensating your team, in coordination with Store Management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage, develop, and motivate others.
  • Prior selling, customer service, and leadership experience required.
  • Superior time management and organizational skills.
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented.
