About the position

The Area Sales Manager (ASM) at McKesson is responsible for leading a team of field sales account executives to achieve financial objectives and drive performance. This role involves setting strategic direction, onboarding new employees, coaching team members, and fostering an inclusive work environment. The ASM will engage with customer and manufacturer partners, ensuring alignment with business initiatives and promoting growth through effective sales strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve Financials & MBO Goals by meeting gross profit and related MBO targets.
  • Participate in monthly check-ins with RVPs to review performance and adjust tactics as needed.
  • Embody the company's culture and communicate key corporate messages to the team.
  • Drive performance and development activities for team members, including coaching and training.
  • Create and update annual strategic and tactical plans to ensure financial plan achievement.
  • Focus on top customers and lead bi-annual business reviews with key accounts.
  • Collaborate with specialists to develop strategic sales plans and ensure field adoption of specialized offerings.
  • Utilize technology and analytics to improve sales results.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in business or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Typically requires 9+ years of professional/sales experience and 1+ years of supervisory and/or management experience.
  • Experience selling to C-suite executives.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to analyze trends and growth.
  • Superior communication skills and ability to influence others.
  • Demonstrated performance management and sales leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and CRM tools.
  • Experience in distribution sales and building a new region/territory.
  • Prior healthcare experience is preferred.
