About the position

The Sales Manager at Swift Transportation is responsible for managing sales generation across all lines of business within a designated geographic area. This role focuses on generating sales from both new and existing customers, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with various teams to meet company revenue goals. The position emphasizes the importance of customer relationships and requires a proactive approach to market conditions and sales strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the sales generation for all lines of business within assigned geographic area.
  • Generate sales from new and existing customers within assigned geographic area.
  • Meet all established metrics regarding sales calls, appointments, and discussions.
  • Establish regular connections with customers.
  • Communicate contact information, instructions for booking loads, and all negotiated terms to planners and customer accounts teams, ensuring all systems have current information.
  • Receive and review reports regarding customer opportunities and issues.
  • Stay current on local/regional market conditions and adjust strategies to win business that meets company revenue goals.
  • Prioritize and communicate customer commitments in assigned sales area.
  • Negotiate rates including accessorial charges on behalf of Swift Transportation, collaborating with Pricing.
  • Assist planners in monitoring customer trailer pools as needed.
  • Assist in collection activities as needed.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by facilitating the success of business operations to meet company demands and expectations.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

  • Previous work experience in the transportation industry required.
  • Previous field sales experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
  • Outstanding communication skills are a must.
  • Ability to transfer knowledge to others.
  • Problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations are essential.
  • Well organized and able to multi-task.
