About the position

The Area Sales Manager at Daikin Comfort Technologies Distribution, Inc. is responsible for managing and developing sales activities within a designated area. This role involves supervising sales personnel to maximize sales volume, establishing and maintaining relationships with dealers, manufacturers, and customers, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. The position requires strong leadership and relationship management skills, as well as a deep understanding of the HVAC industry.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop sales activities in the assigned area.
  • Supervise sales personnel to achieve maximum sales volume.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with dealers, manufacturers, and customers.
  • Oversee regional and local sales managers and their teams.
  • Plan and direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations for sales and service programs.
  • Determine pricing schedules and discount rates.
  • Review operational records and reports to project sales and profitability.
  • Monitor customer preferences to focus sales efforts effectively.
  • Prepare budgets and approve budget expenditures.
  • Confer with potential customers regarding equipment needs and advise on purchases.
  • Perform additional projects and duties to support ongoing business needs.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of sales experience, preferably in the HVAC industry.
  • 5+ years in a supervisory or managerial role of a sales team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of P&L statements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • High level of understanding of business needs of HVAC contractors.
  • Ability to execute a consultative selling approach and manage relationships effectively.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and ability to communicate business plans and strategies.
