About the position

The Area Sales Manager (ASM) at McKesson is responsible for leading a team of field sales account executives to achieve financial targets and drive team performance. This role involves aligning the team's direction with business initiatives, attracting and onboarding talent, and fostering a trust-based, inclusive work environment. The ASM also engages with customer and manufacturer partners and collaborates with McKesson specialists across various segments to enhance sales strategies and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve Financials & MBO Goals by meeting gross profit and related MBO targets.
  • Adjust local tactics based on RVP guidance to enhance performance against goals.
  • Create and execute local strategies to drive growth and team performance.
  • Model ICARE and ILEAD behaviors to embody the company culture.
  • Communicate key corporate and BU messages to the team and promote team building.
  • Drive performance and development activities, including performance management and continuing education.
  • Nurture and grow the sales competencies of the team through effective coaching and observation.
  • Conduct hiring activities with a focus on improving team diversity.
  • Create and document annual strategic and tactical plans to ensure financial plan achievement.
  • Focus on top customers and lead bi-annual business reviews with key accounts.
  • Collaborate with McKesson Sales Specialists to develop strategic sales plans and ensure field adoption of specialized offerings.
  • Utilize data and analytics to inform sales opportunity selection and improve results.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent experience, typically requiring 9+ years of professional experience and 1+ years of supervisory and/or management experience.
  • Proven experience selling to C-suite executives and engaging with senior leadership.
  • Ability to analyze quarterly trends and address issues to drive profitability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey information effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to set clear goals and hold team members accountable for results.
  • Proven success in leading sales teams and driving revenue growth.
  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and CRM systems for managing customer relationships.
