About the position

This position is responsible for managing and directing a salesforce to achieve sales and profit goals within a specified area. The role involves directly supervising a team of 3 to 5 employees in the Sales Department, ensuring that they are effectively meeting their targets and contributing to the overall success of the company. Regular contact with the customer base is essential, which may involve phone calls and travel through the assigned territory to solicit orders and establish new relationships. Building and maintaining a strong customer base is a key focus of this position. In addition to direct supervision, the role requires the development and implementation of strategic sales plans that align with corporate goals. This includes hiring and training employees, directing sales efforts, forecasting activities, preparing reports, setting performance goals, and assigning new sales territories. The position also involves recommending and approving budgets, expenditures, and appropriations for research and development work, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support sales initiatives. The successful candidate will be expected to perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to the demands of the department, which may include working evenings, weekends, and holidays. This role is critical in driving the sales performance of Shamrock Foods Company, a family-owned and operated business that has been a leader in the food industry since 1922.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise 3 to 5 employees in the Sales Department.
  • Regularly contact customer base by phone and/or travel through assigned territory to solicit orders and establish new relationships.
  • Call and maintain a customer base.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to accommodate corporate goals.
  • Hire and train employees, direct sales, forecast activities, prepare reports, set performance goals, and assign new sales territories.
  • Recommend and approve budget, expenditures, and appropriations for research and development work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year university or five years related experience/equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current driver's license and auto insurance required.
  • Ability to calculate amounts such as discounts, commissions, proportions, percentages.
  • Flexibility to work the demands of the department, which are subject to evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of Accounting, Database, Internet, Ordering and Inventory software as well as Word and Excel.
  • Ability to use a laptop.
