About the position

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for managing and developing a team of sales employees to achieve designated sales plans while improving overall business performance in a direct store delivery environment. This role focuses on building strategic partnerships with customers, driving customer satisfaction, and generating new business through effective sales strategies and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a team of sales employees to achieve sales plans.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with customers.
  • Drive customer satisfaction through superior service and execution.
  • Leverage VIP tools for efficient route sales and delivery.
  • Analyze business trends and opportunities using VIP tools.
  • Lead and motivate District Sales Leads against revenue goals.
  • Activate local and national marketplace initiatives and promotions.
  • Manage distributor relationships and sales execution.
  • Develop the organization by managing performance and individual capability.
  • Ensure the team delivers volume and revenue results while managing costs.
  • Conduct documented 1:1 route rides with sales personnel to assess capabilities.
  • Manage Banner CDA compliance and payment standards.
  • Review sales activity and training needs with sales personnel.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain customer service levels.
  • Proactively contact assigned accounts to identify customer needs and resolve issues.
  • Develop knowledge of the company's services, product line, and pricing structure.
  • Maintain awareness of market behavior and competitive trends.
  • Review sales scorecards weekly and leverage data for accountability.
  • Identify skill set opportunities and enhance team capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a sales representative and/or sales manager, or 7 years of applicable experience.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Experience developing comprehensive strategies and business plans.
  • Three years of experience managing an outside sales team.
