About the position

The Area Sales Manager will play a crucial role in generating group business within a designated market segment, focusing on maximizing revenue profitability through proactive sales activities that align with established hotel brand standards. This position requires a dynamic individual who can effectively prospect for new business opportunities through various methods such as solicitation, networking, and cold-calling. The Area Sales Manager will also be responsible for enhancing the hotel's visibility by conducting outside sales calls and blitzes, as well as attending trade shows and events relevant to the market segment. In addition to direct sales efforts, the Area Sales Manager will design and implement marketing promotions and campaigns that may include direct mail, social media outreach, and advertisements. Meeting or exceeding established monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals and profit margins is a key expectation of this role. The successful candidate will maintain an active list of accounts to ensure continuous relationship development and will develop and execute monthly focused action plans to drive sales. Effective communication with internal business partners regarding upcoming group needs, VIP clients, and meeting functions is essential. The Area Sales Manager will also be tasked with maintaining and securing repeat business through client satisfaction and loyalty. Staying informed about industry trends and competitor activities is vital for success in this position. The role requires regular attendance, punctuality, and adherence to high standards of personal appearance and grooming, in compliance with the hotel's dress code. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor as needed, with reasonable accommodations made for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect for new business through solicitation, networking, and cold-calling.
  • Improve hotel visibility by conducting outside sales calls and attending trade shows and market segment-related events.
  • Design and deliver marketing promotions and campaigns involving direct mail, social media, and advertisements.
  • Meet or exceed established monthly, quarterly, and annual targeted sales goals and profit margins.
  • Maintain an active list of accounts to ensure continuous relationship development.
  • Develop and execute monthly focused and aggressive action plans.
  • Communicate with internal business partners on upcoming group needs, VIP clients, and meeting functions.
  • Maintain and secure repeat business through client satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and competitor activities.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible management experience in Group Sales within a 200+ room full-service hotel.
  • OR a 4-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major and 5 years of experience in Sales within a 200+ room full-service hotel or related professional area.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SalesPro and Hilton OnQ is preferred.
