About the position

The Area Security Manager for Google Data Centers is responsible for leading security operations and risk management strategies across multiple data center locations. This role involves collaborating with various teams to develop innovative security protocols, manage crisis responses, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The position emphasizes the importance of balancing effective security measures with excellent customer service, while overseeing a geographically dispersed workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of individuals, setting and communicating individual and team priorities that support organizational goals.
  • Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development, providing feedback and coaching.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute protocols and practices to assess and mitigate threats to company assets.
  • Recommend security solutions/tools to help mitigate vulnerabilities and automate tasks.
  • Design and implement security operations programs and manage daily operations across multiple technical infrastructure locations.
  • Ensure compliance with all regional governmental and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Conduct, assist, or provide guidance in investigations related to security/Code of Conduct risk and violations.
  • Develop cross-functional strategies to minimize operational costs, improve efficiency, and maintain an appropriate security posture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience developing and deploying processes to mitigate risk, and leading operational or project-based work and tasks.
  • 10 years of experience managing, sourcing, or procuring business resources and vendors.
  • 10 years of experience in a people management, supervision, or team leadership role, coordinating/managing resources for data center locations.
  • Experience managing a geographically dispersed employee and contracted workforce, as well as working with confidential information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree.
  • 10 years of experience coordinating or leading security, and planning security operations or strategy for security programs.
  • 5 years of experience managing incidents and crises.
  • 3 years of experience with data center technologies, infrastructure, and methodologies.
  • 3 years of experience with physical security system architecture, components, installation methods, administration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with physical security, investigations, compliance, or risk management, as well as familiarity with Google applications.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $144,000-$216,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
