About the position

The Armed Guard position at Centerra Group involves enforcing security regulations and procedures to prevent breaches of security. The role requires exercising judgment and discretion in responding to incidents and emergencies, ensuring the safety of detainees and the public while maintaining control of the situation. The guard will be responsible for escorting detainees, conducting searches, and providing security at various locations, including medical facilities and courtrooms.

Responsibilities

  • Escort detainees in custody at medical treatment facilities, courtrooms, and detention facilities.
  • Serve prepared meals to detainees as required or directed.
  • Conduct searches of holding cells and/or detainees as required or directed.
  • Provide security and escort services at local medical facilities during detainee hospital care, restricting unauthorized access.
  • Provide security as directed by TOMs to various locations throughout the facility.
  • Perform searches of vehicles and persons as directed by the contract or contracting officer's representatives.
  • Enforce regulations and procedures to prevent breaches of security, exercising judgment and discretion in emergencies.
  • Maintain security of all areas by taking necessary actions.
  • Secure and protect personnel and property until properly relieved.
  • Comply with orders and instructions until relieved by proper authority.
  • Report all violations of orders enforced.
  • Give the alarm in case of disorder or emergency.
  • Report unusual events that threaten security or endanger life or property.
  • Take reasonable counteraction to save life and property or lessen danger while maintaining post security.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1 year of full-time experience as a Security officer in the U.S. or 1 year of full-time law enforcement experience with a U.S. federal, state, city, or municipality law enforcement entity, or 3 years of non-administrative U.S. military active duty.
  • Possess Active BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit.
  • Possess Active BSIS Guard Card.
  • BSIS Baton Permit.
  • U.S. citizen and resided in the U.S. for the last five years.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to read, speak, write, and understand English and prepare detailed written reports.
  • Must be able to pass all training and obtain required certifications.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
  • Pass a background investigation including criminal, credit, and driving record checks if required.
  • Pass U.S. Government background investigation for required security clearance if necessary.
