About the position

Midland Park Public Schools is seeking dedicated professionals for the 2024-2025 school year, specifically for the roles of Armed School Security Officer and Special Education Teacher. The Armed School Security Officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and school property. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining a safe learning environment, responding to emergencies, and collaborating with local law enforcement when necessary. The officer will also engage with students and staff to foster a positive school climate and provide support during school events and activities. The Special Education Teacher position is available at Highland School, focusing on elementary school students with special needs. The teacher will develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique requirements. This role involves collaborating with parents, other educators, and support staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. The teacher will utilize various instructional strategies and assessments to promote student engagement and academic success. Additionally, the Special Education Teacher will be responsible for monitoring student progress and adjusting teaching methods as needed to meet the diverse needs of students. This position may also include a leave replacement role, providing continuity of education for students during the absence of the regular teacher. Candidates should be prepared to adapt to different classroom settings and work collaboratively with a team of educators to ensure the best outcomes for students with special needs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and school property as an Armed School Security Officer.
  • Respond to emergencies and collaborate with local law enforcement as needed.
  • Engage with students and staff to foster a positive school climate.

Requirements

  • Valid certification for Armed School Security Officer.
  • Experience in school security or law enforcement is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field for the Special Education Teacher role.
  • New Jersey teaching certification in Special Education.
  • Experience working with students with special needs is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
