About The Position

The Armed Ground Transportation Officer position involves providing secure transportation and guard services for detainees under the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Mount Laurel, NJ. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, documentation of detainee transports, and compliance with established standards and training. Officers will work in rotating shifts and must maintain a valid armed guard/firearms permit, ensuring the safety and security of detainees during transport.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum two years' experience as a Law Enforcement Officer or Military Police Officer, or six months as a security officer related to detainee functions, or two years active-duty military service with honorable discharge.
  • Ability to maintain an active telephone for communication with staff.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and data entry.
  • Effective organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of a valid New Jersey Permit to Carry.
  • Possession of a valid New Jersey Security Officer Registration Card.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License or Commercial Driver's License.
  • Possession of a USDOT Medical Card for CDL holders.
  • Current federal background investigation access or ability to obtain (e-Qip).
  • Active Federal government security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform transportation duties per PBNDS Standards and Training.
  • Provide 24/7 transportation and guard services throughout the Baltimore AOR.
  • Document all detainee transports and safeguard detainee records and possessions.
  • Notify supervisors of any route variations or changes.
  • Ensure required detainee documentation is obtained prior to departure.
  • Report safety-related transportation issues and complete vehicle repair orders.
  • Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections and post vehicle checks after assignments.
  • Ensure all required equipment is present in the assigned vehicle before departure.
  • Comply with Post Orders and hospital protocol if assigned to a stationary guard post.
  • Maintain possession of necessary identification and permits at all times.
  • Report accidents, incidents, and injuries associated with transportation duties.
  • Complete required incident reports and documentation before departure.
  • Conduct initial screenings and thorough secondary searches of incoming detainees.
  • Ensure proper documentation of service forms and provide meals and water to detainees.
  • Conduct regular sight checks on ICE hold room cells and maintain logs.
  • Utilize the EADM system for detainee information management.
  • Safely operate various vehicles, including sedans, vans, and buses.
