About the position

The Army Robotics System Engineer at Torch Technologies will support the Army Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO) in developing Human Machine Integrated Formations (HMIF) for both Armor and Infantry Brigade Combat Teams (BCT). This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to translate operational requirements into systems, hardware, and software specifications, facilitating the prototyping of complex military formations within a 27-month timeframe.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure HMIF working level Systems Engineering success.
  • Interface with and support DOTmLPF-P stakeholders across the HMI enterprise.
  • Conduct Analysis of Alternatives.
  • Document, track, and maintain configuration management using Digital Environments and engineering tools.
  • Develop and decompose requirements starting with Mission Engineering and progressing through system of systems and system level performance specifications.
  • Identify, exploit, and mitigate risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Plan, coordinate, schedule, direct, and control engineering and technical support activities for systems development and capability integration.
  • Provide integrated, multi-disciplinary solution recommendations for technical problem resolution.
  • Develop acquisition contract documentation, including Statements of Objective and Statements of Work.
  • Participate in the development and execution of test strategies.
  • Lead and work on multi-functional/multi-disciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience applying Systems Engineering principles; fewer years may be considered based on complexity and success of experience.
  • Experience in DoD acquisition programs, with Army experience preferred.
  • Experience evaluating projects to determine cost-effective solutions that meet specifications.
  • Hands-on experience applying systems engineering and integration principles across hardware and software systems.
  • Expertise with the DoD acquisition process and authoring acquisition documentation including systems engineering plans and Performance Based Specifications.
  • Understanding of engineering across a range of disciplines.
  • Familiarity with engineering tools typically included in Digital Environments.
  • Experience with integration testing of systems of systems.
  • Development of Statements of Objective, Statements of Work, and associated performance specifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Recent engineering experience with military platforms, teleoperations, autonomy, EO/IR, and C4ISR systems.
  • Familiarity with DoD 5000 acquisition lifecycle processes.
  • Superior writing skills for developing technical system-level specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills for delivering briefings on complex topics to senior leaders.
