About the position

The Army Robotics Systems Engineer at Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is responsible for supporting the Army Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO) in the development of Human Machine Integrated Formations (HMIF) for both Armor and Infantry Brigade Combat Teams (BCTs). This role involves collaborating with system users and contractors to translate operational requirements into technical specifications, ensuring successful systems engineering practices are applied throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Support the HMIF Project Office in developing integrated formations for Armor and Infantry BCTs.
  • Collaborate with system users, requirements owners, and contractors to translate operational requirements into systems and software requirements.
  • Conduct analysis of alternatives and maintain configuration management using Digital Environments and engineering tools.
  • Develop and decompose requirements starting with Mission Engineering through to system-level performance specifications.
  • Identify, exploit, and mitigate risks, issues, and opportunities throughout the project.
  • Plan, coordinate, schedule, and control engineering and technical support activities for systems development.
  • Provide integrated, multi-disciplinary solution recommendations for technical problems.
  • Develop acquisition contract documentation including Statements of Objective and Statements of Work.
  • Participate in the development and execution of test strategies.
  • Lead and work on multi-functional/multi-disciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience applying systems engineering principles, with consideration for fewer years based on complexity and success of experience.
  • Experience in DoD acquisition programs, with Army experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience applying systems engineering and integration principles across hardware and software systems.
  • Expertise with the DoD acquisition process and authoring related documentation.
  • Familiarity with engineering tools typically included in Digital Environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Recent engineering experience with military platforms, teleoperations, autonomy, EO/IR, and C4ISR systems.
  • Familiarity with DoD 5000 acquisition lifecycle processes.
  • Superior writing skills for developing technical system-level specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills for delivering briefings to senior leaders.
