About the position

The Art Classroom Teacher position is a shared role between Lewisville Middle and Flat Rock Middle, where the teacher will be responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program for students in the regular classroom setting. This role requires adherence to the duties of teaching as outlined in relevant laws and policies. The teacher will design an academic education program that aligns with the district's educational philosophy, ensuring that it meets the diverse needs of students. Continuous professional growth is emphasized, with opportunities for attending educational meetings, visiting related facilities, and engaging in professional literature to enhance teaching practices. In this position, the teacher will prepare educational plans tailored to the assessed needs of each student, utilizing appropriate assessment instruments to monitor student progress. Lesson plans will be developed for each assigned group or class, and the teacher will create a classroom environment that fosters effective learning. A variety of instructional techniques and media will be employed to address the educational, social, and emotional needs of students. The teacher will also be responsible for maintaining safety and order within the classroom, participating in school staffing processes, and assisting in the selection of instructional materials. Monitoring and reporting on student progress is a critical aspect of this role. The teacher will ensure that evaluation records are maintained for each student, provide regular feedback to students and parents, and complete necessary reports for educational agencies. Participation in faculty meetings and collaboration with other educators is expected, along with other responsibilities as directed by the immediate supervisor. This position is full-time and offers two available positions for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Taking precautions to protect students and materials.
  • Participating in in-school staffing and screening processes.
  • Assisting in upholding school rules and policies.
  • Assisting in the selection of instructional materials.
  • Ensuring evaluation records are maintained for each student.
  • Evaluating student progress and providing feedback.
  • Supplying progress reports to school personnel and parents.
  • Completing reports for educational agencies.
  • Referring students needing further evaluation to appropriate personnel.
  • Attending faculty meetings and other required meetings.
  • Performing other responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid North Carolina Teaching License in the subject area or ability to qualify for one.
  • Experience in teaching art or related subjects.
