About the position

The Art Classroom Teacher is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program for students in a regular classroom setting, adhering to the duties of teaching as outlined in relevant laws and policies. This role requires a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and ensuring that educational practices align with the district's educational philosophy. The teacher will engage in continuous professional growth through various means, including attending educational meetings, visiting related facilities, and reading professional literature. Collaboration with other educators and departments is essential for the development of a cohesive educational program. In this position, the teacher will design and implement educational plans tailored to the individual needs of students, utilizing appropriate assessment tools to monitor progress. Lesson plans must be prepared for each assigned group or class, and the teacher is expected to create a classroom environment that promotes effective learning. Instructional techniques will vary to meet the diverse educational, social, and emotional needs of students. The teacher will also be responsible for maintaining safety and order within the classroom, upholding school rules, and participating in the selection of instructional materials. Monitoring student progress is a critical aspect of this role, which includes maintaining evaluation records, providing regular feedback to students and parents, and completing necessary reports for educational agencies. The teacher will also refer students needing additional support to appropriate personnel or community resources. Participation in faculty meetings and other required gatherings is expected, along with fulfilling any additional responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor.

  • Ensuring evaluation records are maintained for each student.
  • Evaluating student progress and providing feedback to students and parents.
  • Completing reports for educational agencies as required.
  • Referring students needing further evaluation to appropriate personnel.
  • Attending faculty meetings and other required meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid North Carolina Teaching License in the subject area or ability to qualify for one.
  • Prior teaching experience in a relevant field.
