We encourage our shoppers to interact with sellers throughout all stages of the transaction, including item inquiries, price negotiations and customization requests. The Art + Design Research team works to create beautiful experiences for our clients by reviewing inventory on the site for quality standards. As a Coordinator on the Art + Design Research team, you will be part of a team from some of the world's premier galleries, auction houses, and museums. This role assists furniture, decorative arts, fine art, jewelry, and fashion specialists in researching, reviewing, and curating the 1stDibs marketplace. An ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can navigate delicate conversations with an international seller population. Strong judgment skills, meticulous attention to detail, and superb written and verbal communication skills are crucial to this role.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal stakeholders and 1stDibs dealers regarding a wide range of vetting-related issues, including correcting misattributions and developing/enforcing best practice standards for listing quality
  • Coordinate category specialists in their day-to-day work in upholding the integrity of the marketplace, including site-wide category reviews and assessing new seller leads
  • Contribute to the development of the long-term vetting strategy for 1stDibs as a marketplace
  • Assist with specialist lead research to help feed the lead funnel and lead-related operations
  • Coordinate and manage Buyer Protection cases for ADR Specialists and conduct additional research
  • Conduct research on objects and creators for all industries (fashion, fine art, furniture, and jewelry).

Requirements

  • 1+ years experience in a related field (ie, working or interning at a gallery, museum, art appraisal firm, or auction house)
  • Experience speaking and writing about furniture objects, art, jewelry, and design; including but not limited to experience communicating with members of the arts and design community, creators, and artists
  • Strong research skills and detail-oriented work ethic and ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously
  • Team player with a roll-up-your-sleeves and help attitude
  • Experience handling and assessing objects in person (fine art, furniture, jewelry and/or fashion)
  • Self-starter, comfortable with working both as a team and independently

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience or familiarity with CRM platforms such as Salesforce
  • Experience with Looker
  • Experience with research databases including Artnet, askART, Artprice, and Docantic, Archive.org
  • Experience corresponding with foundations and archives of designers and artists
