About the position

The Art Director, Digital at Talbots is responsible for conceptualizing and designing digital assets including weekly emails, homepages, site assets, and organic social media posts. This role involves managing the creative process in collaboration with Project Management and cross-functional teams, ensuring that all designs align with brand standards and marketing strategies while enhancing the customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Concept and design weekly emails, homepages, site assets, and organic social posts.
  • Collaborate with Creative Director, Senior Art Director, Copy, Marketing, and Merchandising teams to create visually impactful digital experiences.
  • Maintain awareness of current technology, trends, and site design to bring relevant ideas to creative execution.
  • Design elevated layouts with a modern and clean aesthetic, ensuring brand consistency.
  • Develop weekly and monthly campaigns with approved photography and copy, partnering with copywriters.
  • Refine and prepare layouts for weekly In Progress Review presentations and manage revisions with cross-functional partners.
  • Present work at weekly IDR review meetings, using data to explain design rationale and decision-making.
  • Prepare files for handoff to Web Development and Email Marketing teams.
  • Review proofs for accuracy and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Communicate project status to Project Manager and navigate the creative process proactively.

Requirements

  • College degree and 5+ years of related experience in graphic design.
  • Experience in fashion, beauty, and/or wellness brands is a plus; eCommerce retail experience preferred.
  • Strong design skills with sophisticated typography and an eye for color.
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing work priorities and demands.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Expert in Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects, Premier).
  • Working knowledge of Figma, HTML, and web technologies that impact design and customer experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience designing in Figma.
  • Willingness to learn new software/apps as needed.
  • Comfortable using cloud-based tools like Trello, Miro, and Figma.
