About the position

CapTech's Customer Experience (CX) team is seeking an Art Director with a proven track record in designing sophisticated digital brand experiences that are not only intuitive and impactful but also accessible. The ideal candidate will be a passionate problem-solver, dedicated to creating elegant and attractive solutions to complex business challenges while continuously honing their craft as they advance in their careers. Our Art Directors are expected to stay current with evolving methods for designing engaging products and services, approaching their training with curiosity and enthusiasm. In addition to their design responsibilities, they will also mentor other designers, overseeing their work to ensure successful delivery of projects. The Art Director will collaborate on creating personas, customer journeys, conceptual prototypes, and responsive interfaces that adhere to interaction design and usability best practices. They will produce clean, informative, and concise presentations for clients and internal teams, effectively communicating the rationale behind their designs and recommendations. The role involves performing competitive brand assessments, providing innovative alternatives, and researching design and technology trends. Advocating for accessible experience and visual design is crucial, as is the ability to present and articulate creative solutions confidently to both internal teams and clients. The Art Director will lead brainstorming sessions and discuss project scope and level of effort with senior creative and account team members. Additionally, the Art Director will have opportunities to volunteer for CX leadership roles, contributing to methodologies, capabilities, and toolsets, while engaging in professional development and industry involvement. They will proactively seek to mentor others in design, providing oversight and art direction for visual and interaction designers, ensuring that all work meets the highest standards of quality.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on creating personas, customer journeys, conceptual prototypes, and responsive interfaces following interaction design and usability best practices.
  • Produce clean, informative, and concise presentations to clients and internal teams that communicate the rationale behind designs and recommendations.
  • Perform competitive brand assessments and provide innovative alternatives, researching and understanding design and technology trends.
  • Advocate the benefits of accessible experience and visual design with clients and team members.
  • Present and articulate creative solutions to internal teams and clients with confidence, leading brainstorming sessions.
  • Discuss scope and level of effort (LOE) with senior creative team members and account team members.
  • Volunteer for CX leadership opportunities, contributing to methodologies, capabilities, approaches, and toolset.
  • Attend and lead CX meetings and trainings, engaging in professional development and industry involvement.
  • Proactively seek to mentor others about design, providing design oversight and art direction for visual and interaction designers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience, ideally in a consulting or agency context.
  • 4-year+ degree in design, fine arts, or similar preferred.
  • Proven written, verbal, conceptual, and visual communication skills.
  • Figma expertise is preferred, with proficiency in comparable design tools (Sketch, Adobe XD).
  • Proficiency with Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, as well as PowerPoint.
  • Experience with video editing, motion design, and designing for AR/VR are pluses.
  • Working familiarity with the role of Product Designer is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Agile product development lifecycles and practices is a plus.
  • Familiarity with WCAG and other accessibility guidelines and standards is a plus.
