About the position

The Art Handler/Driver at UOVO plays a crucial role in the transportation and handling of valuable art objects, ensuring their safe delivery and installation. This position requires a blend of logistical expertise and a passion for art, as the individual will work closely with both internal teams and clients to provide exceptional service in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Proper handling of art objects, using appropriate methods and materials for packaging, loading, and securing for safe transport.
• Install/de-install artworks in-house or at offsite locations, troubleshooting and utilizing critical thinking to address scope changes.
• Preparation and careful execution of paperwork, including bills of lading, labels, driver logs, and detailed condition reports with accompanying photos if necessary.
• Receive and release shipments into warehouse facilities.
• Pack artworks for local, national, and international transportation and storage.
• Maintain compliance with all local, state, and DOT regulations.
• Provide support to internal teams as needed.
• Complete other projects as assigned by the Manager.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in storage/collection management knowledge.
• Demonstrated knowledge of installation, packing, and art handling.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail for both clients and coworkers.
• Ability to problem-solve and address onsite issues, knowing when to escalate problems to a supervisor.
• Valid driver's license; CDL license is a bonus.
• Ability to push and pull 150 pounds on a dolly or cart, and 50 pounds without mechanical aid.
• Ability to carry 40 pounds of varying size and shape up to a distance of 90 feet.
• Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and reach overhead.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with the use of hand trucks, pallet jacks, jbars, dollies, and other necessary warehouse equipment.
