About the position

Clarke Elementary School is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to fill a fine arts teaching position. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in one or more of the arts disciplines, including music, art, dance, or theatre, with a particular emphasis on music and art. This role is designed for someone who is passionate about arts education and has a genuine desire to inspire and educate students in their chosen discipline. Candidates should possess relevant experience in arts education, and while a degree in arts education is preferred, practical experience in the field is essential. The successful applicant will be responsible for creating an engaging and supportive learning environment that fosters creativity and artistic expression among students. This position requires a commitment to working collaboratively with students, staff, and the community to promote the importance of the arts in education.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans in the arts disciplines, focusing on music and art education.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
• Assess and evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their artistic development.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate arts education into the broader curriculum.
• Organize and participate in school events, performances, and exhibitions that showcase student work in the arts.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and program initiatives.

Requirements

• Experience in arts education, particularly in music or art.
• A degree in arts education is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students and staff.
• A passion for teaching and a commitment to fostering student creativity.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in teaching dance or theatre is a plus.
