About the position

The Art Teacher (Elementary) at Lighthouse Community Public Schools is responsible for providing exceptional art education to elementary students, fostering creativity and self-expression while ensuring that traditionally underserved students achieve their academic and personal goals. This role emphasizes community engagement, culturally responsive pedagogy, and data-driven instruction to support student learning and outcomes. The teacher will also participate in building a positive classroom culture and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the educational experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach multiple sections of elementary Art class and lead a grade-level Crew/Advisory each day.
• Plan, internalize, and implement effective, grade-level standards-based curriculum, units, and lessons that are learner-driven and modified for diverse learners.
• Utilize, collect, and analyze rigorous, student-engaged assessments to identify and address students' areas of growth and mastery of learning objectives.
• Build and maintain a supportive and learning-centered classroom culture.
• Create positive relationships with students and families to foster a collaborative learning environment.
• Engage in professional development and contribute to the growth of the school community.

Requirements

• B.A. or B.S. required; Master's Degree preferred.
• Appropriate California Teaching Credential or commitment to acquire one.
• Valid Certificate of Clearance verifying professional fitness for all CA teachers of record.
• Deep knowledge of California Common Core State Standards and mastery-based learning.
• 2+ years teaching urban youth with transformational results preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
