About the position

The Art Teacher for Grades 5-8 will be responsible for fostering a creative and engaging learning environment for students in middle school. This position requires a passionate educator who can inspire students to explore their artistic talents and develop their skills in various art forms. The teacher will design and implement a comprehensive art curriculum that aligns with state standards and encourages students to express themselves through visual arts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in art education and be able to integrate art history, theory, and practice into the classroom experience. In addition to teaching art techniques and concepts, the Art Teacher will also be responsible for assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and adapting lessons to meet the diverse needs of learners. The teacher will collaborate with other faculty members to create interdisciplinary projects that enhance students' understanding of art in relation to other subjects. Furthermore, the Art Teacher will organize art exhibitions and showcase student work to promote the importance of the arts within the school community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment, where all students feel valued and encouraged to take creative risks. The Art Teacher will also engage with parents and the community to promote the art program and seek opportunities for student involvement in local art events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Art Education or related field.
  • Valid California Teaching Credential including English Learner Authorization (CLAD/BCLAD).
  • Three current professional letters of recommendation.
  • Proof of TB clearance required upon hire.
  • Completed Ed-Join Application.
