About the position

The Catholic Diocese of Grand Rapids Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate Art Teacher for grades K-8 to join our team in Kent County. This part-time position is designed for an individual who is not only state certified but also highly qualified to teach art and media to students in elementary grades. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a creative and engaging learning environment that encourages students to explore their artistic talents and develop their skills in various media forms. As an Art Teacher, you will play a crucial role in shaping the artistic development of our students. You will be expected to create lesson plans that align with the curriculum and cater to the diverse needs of students. Your responsibilities will include teaching fundamental art concepts, techniques, and history, while also integrating technology and media into the art curriculum. You will have the opportunity to inspire students through hands-on projects, art exhibitions, and collaborative activities that promote teamwork and creativity. This position reports directly to the Building Principal and the Shared Services Director, ensuring that you have the support needed to succeed in your role. The starting date for this position is set for the 2024-2025 school year, and we are looking for someone who is eager to contribute to our school community and make a positive impact on our students' lives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging art lesson plans for grades K-8.
  • Teach students various art techniques and media forms.
  • Foster a creative and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress in art skills and knowledge.
  • Organize art exhibitions and collaborative projects.
  • Integrate technology into the art curriculum where appropriate.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.

Requirements

  • Must be state certified to teach art.
  • Highly qualified in the subject area of art education.
  • Experience teaching art to elementary and middle school students is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
