About the position

The Art Teacher position at American Leadership Academy is designed for educators who are passionate about teaching art to students in grades K-6. The role involves developing and delivering art curriculum, managing art supplies, and fostering a creative learning environment. The teacher will also engage with the community through outreach programs and collaborate with other departments to enhance the school's artistic offerings.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop art curriculum and course materials for Junior High and High School Art I Classes.
• Cooperate with the district and school administration in providing art outreach programs to the community.
• Manage the inventory, storage, and use of school-owned art supplies, equipment, and materials.
• Deliver lectures to students on arts and its many forms and traditions.
• Prepare effective lessons/rehearsals that reflect accommodations for individual student differentiation.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
• Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Regularly evaluate student performance.
• Assist the theater and instrumental department with providing artwork for scenery and set designs for concerts and shows.
• Assist in arranging field trips for art classes.
• Ensure that all school and district policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Ensure a sustainable relationship with parents, school personnel, and members of the public.
• Submit grades and attendance according to the procedures of the school.
• Prepare classroom for instructions prior to the start of the school year.

Requirements

• Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.
• Teaching certificate with Art Endorsement or equivalent qualifications.
• Minimum of three relevant years of teaching experience.
• 24 college credit hours in Art or an advanced degree in the area.
• Pass the AEPA or NES Subject Knowledge exam or be National Board Certified in the area.
