About the position

The Art Teacher at Los Arboles Middle School will play a vital role in fostering creativity and artistic expression among students. This position involves developing and implementing a comprehensive art curriculum that aligns with state standards and meets the diverse needs of students. The Art Teacher will create a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages students to explore various artistic mediums, techniques, and concepts. The teacher will be responsible for planning lessons, preparing instructional materials, and assessing student progress to ensure that each student achieves their artistic potential. In addition to teaching art, the Art Teacher will collaborate with other educators to integrate art into the broader curriculum, promoting interdisciplinary learning. The teacher will also organize art exhibitions and events to showcase student work, fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment among students. The Art Teacher will be expected to maintain a safe and organized classroom, manage student behavior effectively, and communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and achievements. The ideal candidate will be passionate about art education and possess a strong understanding of various art forms, techniques, and history. They should be able to inspire and motivate students, encouraging them to express themselves creatively while developing their artistic skills. The Art Teacher will also be expected to participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in art education and contribute to the overall mission of the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive art curriculum that aligns with state standards.

Requirements

  • Valid single subject credential in art or evidence of application to CTC.
  • English Learner Authorization (Credential copy showing ELA, CLAD Cert, BCLAD certification, or an explanation as to why this requirement is not met).
  • Fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice and/or FBI.
  • Proof of Tuberculosis clearance.
  • Social Security Card for payroll purposes.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Three letters of reference.
  • Resume.
  • Letter of introduction.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in teaching art at the middle school level.
  • Knowledge of various art mediums and techniques.
  • Ability to integrate technology into art education.
